Six of our Alpine Academy drivers will be in action in Barcelona this coming weekend, in the first of a triple-header of support races. In parallel with the F1 calendar, both Formula 2 and Formula 3 will race on the next three successive weekends — with F1 ACADEMY also on the support bill for the up-coming Spanish Grand Prix.

Heading to Barcelona, both of our Alpine Academy Formula 2 racers will be boosted by their recent Formula 1 outing earlier this month. Both Victor Martins and Kush Maini enjoyed a day each running in a 2022-spec Alpine in Spielberg. While not their first F1 test, it was their first taste of the A522 and the experience will raise their confidence heading to Spain.

Frenchman Martins has endured a tough start to the Formula 2 season so far, with Australia being his only double-points finish of the year at the wheel of his ART. Buoyed by his running in the A522, Maini will be striving to reach the podium once more, following his second place in the Jeddah Feature Race in March. The Indian racer sits inside the top ten in the points standings for Invicta Racing.

As we near the half-way point of the Formula 3 season, the next three rounds will be crucial in the championship battle. Alpine Academy racer Gabriele Minì heads the standings for Prema, by just four points from his nearest rival. The Italian enjoyed a superb weekend in Monaco last time out, winning the Feature Race on the Sunday morning. He converted pole to claim his first F3 win and his second podium of the season.

It was a doubly-special weekend for our Alpine Academy racers in Monaco, as Nikola Tsolov also scored his first win in Formula 3 in the Monaco Sprint Race — once again converting pole and leading every lap. He’ll be gunning for another good result in Spain this weekend, along with female racer Sophia Flörsch, who’ll be looking to record her first points for the season for Van Amersfoort Racing.

Another female racer who is flying high for Alpine is Abbi Pulling. After a dominant weekend in Miami — in which she took two lights-to-flag victories — the British driver has extended her lead to 34 points at the top of the F1 ACADEMY standings. While the series is only supporting the Spanish Grand Prix (before returning for Zandvoort in August), it’s already been a very busy time for Pulling.

This coming weekend the 21-year-old will be competing in her third consecutive weekend of racing, having contested the last two rounds of the British Formula 4 Championship at Thruxton and Silverstone. She’s already been a winner in the super-competitive category this year and scored another podium for Rodin a fortnight ago.
